BAS (Building automation system) Study in Shiraz metro

  

1-BMS System (Building Management System):


The improvement of information technology in different fields is the result of human necessities day by day and providing safety and security   more and more.
The technological advances we have witnessed in many facets of our life, significantly have contributed to the field of building management system (BMS).
This system has different abilities such as:
-Energy management,
-Lighting system,
-Security and alarm system,
-Electrical services,
- Remote system monitoring,
 A smart building not only makes the life more secured and comfortable, but also, has more efficient usage of resources and lower energy consumption.
One of the most important applications of BAS system is in metro system, considering, the importance of passenger's life safety and system security, the BAS should operate accurately and completely integrated.

1-1-Advantages of BMS
In a smart building, the system is being exploited automatically and without any problem. Where as, all different systems, are controlled by an integrated control system, with the minimum risks and problems and maximum life of equipments. For instance, financial and physical casualties decrease by minimum level, by instant alarm about fire accident.  

2 –using Building automation system (BAS)
Nowadays, the automation system has important role in the smart building management.
Building automation system controls the utilities technically and administratively. The BAS contains the following capabilities.
-Energy consumption
- Repairing and maintenance reduction
-elongate the life time of equipments and reduce the failure rate
- Maintenance programming
-Decrease of operation cost
- controlled building operation system
- Fast fault diagnosis
-Safety and security system equipments


3 - BAS in metro:
-stations and tunnels ventilation system
- Electrical systems / equipments in tractions posts
-elevators and escalators  
 -illumination (normal, emergency)
-drainage and sewage systems
-water and fuel reservoir tanks monitoring
-fire alarm and fire extinguishing system (FAS and FES)
-fair collection system (FCS)
-passengers information systems (PIS),
-CCTV security system and …are all bind to BAS
BAS has not only profound effects on energy consumption, but also on system operation safety and security.


3-1-BAS contains the following component:

-close circuit TV (CCTV) control
- Fire alarm and fire extinguish systems (FAS, FES) control
-elevators and escalators control
-ventilation and air-condition control (HVAC)
-Input, output gates control
-uninterrupted power system (UPS) control
-interfacing modules control


4-types of BAS system
-Distributed system
-integrated systems with modules, such as wide integrated terminal (WIT)
-semi-integrated system


4-1-distributed system
Local programmable controllers gather the digital and analogue data, processing and required commands are sent to the specific locations through PROFI BUS.


4-2-Integrated systems with the specific modules, such as (WIT)

In this system all data are gathered by the central processor and after processing, the required commands are sent to specific points. In this system, total number of I/O is less than PLC.


4-3-Semi integrate system

A collection of local controllers and industrial PC's that are able to handle industrial or commercial sites.  


5-Hierarchy of BAS:

  In metro systems (mechanical, electrical equipments) are controlled and monitored by BAS.
There exist 3 levels of control:
- Local control,
- Station control
- Central control system


5-1-local control

The local controllers have a limited range of operation.


 5-2-station control

Station controllers are able to controlled and monitored by industrial computer in local station which is located at station manager room.
Station controllers have pre programmed soft wares, to be able to respond at emergency conditions.


5-3-central control system (CCS)
Information processed, analyzed, saved and compiled by controllers, then transferred to central control system.


6- Controlled and monitored By BAS

BAS controlled and monitored these systems:
- Stations and tunnels ventilation systems
- Traction posts (TSS)
-low power distribution systems (LPS)
- Manager and equipment rooms
- Escalators and elevators
- dewatering posts and drainage system
-water and fuel tanks monitoring
-lighting system
-fare collection and gate control
